I understand it has some extra technical bits added to it to modernise it, but I would stick to the newer 1.6 TDCi. You could always consider the 1.6 TDCi 90. The 90 bhp model of the 1560cc engine does not feature a DPF. This engine is generally found on the Studio/LX/style trim levels. The 1.8 TDCi engine was never fitted with a DPF. Matthew

Posted June 9, 2016. Yours is the older 1.6, the 2013 focuses and above have a revised 1.6 that's cured a lot of the issues around oil feed and the turbo. That noise sounds like the cam belt or auxiliary belt is slapping. it definitely got louder and sharper when the camera was at the left end. Get a long tube and listen down it.
Try lifting off early for traffic lights junctions etc instead of using the brake so it has more chance to charge. Driving like this you should also notice improved fuel consumption. Also check for power drains when switched off as this could cause a flat battery.
I decided to ignore the ABS for now and look at the fuel rail pressure sensor (btw thats a bitch to get at on the 1.6tdci ). Hooked up FORscan and sure it showed 180000 or something KPa (the maximum), matches +5v from the sensor. I tried to unplug the connector, and it still reads that values.
